I finally got a surf in yesterday at Riyuewan. It was one of the worst days this season, but still fun enough at shoulder-high and lining up decent enough. Real short period though. Happy New Year to everybody. This is my third fall/winter season in Hainan, and it’s probably been the best so far. November and December were both really consistent, offering a ton of head-high and over days. The contest dates of the 10th and 11th are just now coming into the long-term forecast range. This swell has been really good. Monday was shoulder-high up at Nanyanwan where I got to score some waves with Andy, Edith, and Martin. There was still enough swell around for east-facing spots to have head-high plus waves. There probably won’t be much left by tomorrow though. By Monday we’ll get another swell. Not super big, but enough to probably get the Shimei spots going in the head-high range for a few days. Then into Friday it should build Read the full article…
The tail end of the swell was still bringing through some chest-high waves at Riyuewan. It tapered off throughout the day and actually went side-on, which is odd for that spot this time of year. It’s been overhead for the last three days at Shimei spots. The swell should fade a bit by tomorrow, but with lighter winds, more directly east-facing spots should be pretty good. By next weekend we should see another strong swell kick in.
The local boys have said it’s been pretty fun over the last three or four days. A few new spots discovered. There are still a ton of spots to be found here. Waist- to chest-high clean waves up on the east coast today. We’ve got another swell coming, peaking on Friday. Not as big as the last one, but we should see head-high plus waves for Thursday through Saturday on the east coast. 今天东海岸的浪高度在腰至胸之间。又一个大浪即将到来，周五将会最好，虽不及上一次的浪大，但在周四至周六期间东海岸仍会有一些一人多高的浪。
